This page takes you to the menus (click on the links below) to all our favorite main meal recipes, both new and old. Many are adapted from old family recipes, with a few from my favorite chefs, magazines or cookbooks. I’ve a few liberties to be frugal while staying true to the original spirit.
Beef Meals: Although not huge beef eaters, our family does have several Main Dish favorites that are just too tempting to pass up…If we’re eating beef, you gotta know it’s exceptional.
Chicken & Poultry Meals: You can’t go wrong with Chicken or Turkey if you’re on a budget, and sometimes I think I’m the Queen of Chicken! Here’s our favorites, new & old.
Fish & Seafood: We’re always trying to eat more fish, and not being true “fish lovers” these are the recipes we’ve enjoyed the most. More to come as our family explores the world of fish!
Mostly or all Meatless: Some are true vegetarian, others easily adapted. Even cavemen spent weeks at a time with no meat, and we often overlook protein in these super healthy meals.
Pork Main Meals: While we don’t eat as much pork as we used to, incredible bargains can be found. Here’s a few of our favorites, some old Heritage recipes and others newer.
Casseroles: Casseroles have a bad rep but it doesn’t have to be that way. Keep them fresh, use lots of vegetables and very little filler, and don’t over-cook. Many of these have a special twist!
Main Dish Rice Meals: A few of our favorite meals based on rice or classically served with or over rice as a part of the meal. Some of the world’s classic recipes are based on rice and come in at a budget price!
Pastas & Sauces and Pizza: While pasta finds itself in frugal pantries the world over, resist the urge to open a jar and instead dress pasta with a variety of sauces, vegetables and herbs.
Main Dish Salads: Our favorites are on my Salad page where you’ll find dressings, add ins, side salads and of course, Main Dish Salads. I like to load them up with great stuff!
