If there is anything I like to have exactly the same every single year, almost without exception, it’s my very traditional Classic Midwestern Stuffing. If you read that post, you’ll see I’m a little bit adamant about it. But then a couple of years ago, my sister talked me into doing her Ridiculously Delish Bacon Stuffing, and now, here I am posting out this recipe for a Chorizo & Cranberry Cornbread Stuffing.
Have you ever wished there could be a Turkey Stuffing permeated with the rich flavor and smokiness of bacon? One that’s fantastic in the bird & in a casserole? A seriously crave-worthy stuffing? My Sister’s Ridiculously Delish Thanksgiving Bacon Stuffing is the answer. Now, what was that question, again! You’ll be forgetting everything except for this stuffing once you start eating it!
Thanksgiving food, here in the US, isn’t really about the turkey – it’s about the sides. To me, it’s not Thanksgiving without mashed potatoes, gravy and of course, stuffing! Notice the explanation point. I get excited about stuffing, especially since I usually only have it once a year. Anything else can be as gourmet or as basic as you’d like, but the stuffing? It has to be this one. This is my Classic Midwestern Stuffing or Dressing,
My Mom (rest her soul) was a fantastic cook. Sure, she got sidetracked into the weirdness in the ’60s, Porcupine Balls, Tuna Casserole and even Shake and Bake, but later found her “groove.” These German Beef Rouladen, Mushroom Gravy were a family favorite and a labor of love. Believe me, I know, having made them multiple times. Fair warning, this is one of those heritage recipes you’re going to want to make when you’ve got a bit of time to piddle around in the kitchen, especially the first time. No worries, I’ll lead you through it. If you’re a cooking pro, feel free to jump to the recipe; this is a long post.
