Not too long ago, I was eating at a restaurant and ordered a Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop. It was quite a workout, to say the least. Tough and dry. I kind of think I might have looked/sounded a bit like this kitty, below. But I wasn’t saying Yum Yum – and I don’t know that this kitty is, either! You won’t have that issue with these Sweet Bourbon Maple Chops.
Roasted Pears with Lemon Cream & Maple Caramel Syrup
For once I don’t have too much to say about a recipe – only that I became utterly enamored with the idea of this when I was leafing through a Midwest Magazine. I was wowed! Perfect for fall, perfect for Thanksgiving and perfect for me! The recipe makes eight servings, but for these photos, I made a smaller version.
Shaved Broccoli Salad with Apple & Tarragon
I try to eat healthy, fresh vegetables all year ’round, paying attention of course to pricing and seasonality when I can. This year, though, when summer finally hit I felt like I emerged from the house into the sunlight like one of the old-time pioneers I’ve read about, looking for anything green to eat. I’ve learned to trust my cravings, and this Shaved Broccoli Salad helped satisfy them.
The Sparrow Tavern’s Sweet Cayenne Mustard Sauce . 50 cents
A bit of spice tempered by a touch of sweet, this creamy Sweet Cayenne Mustard Sauce is a bit different and totally awesome. Developed by the Sparrow Tavern in Astoria, New York for their Veggie Burgers, which I also made & put on my blog.
