I’ve been going nuts over a Midwest Living magazine this summer and you’ll see more recipes inspired from them in the coming days and weeks. This recipe, Orange Apricot Snack Cake, was inspired by their Vanilla Orange Snack Cake and is so much more than it sounds!
Yanno, I’m always trying new recipes and this Chicken Sandwich from Bon Appetit’s March issue caught my eye. See, I was just down in Georgia and had an opportunity to eat at Chick Fil A for the second time, ever. I think it’s the best fast food – and I don’t usually quite lower myself to eat fast food! I know, I know, I’m a snob about some things…life is just too short for mediocre food.
This is our “go to” birthday cake, Cafe Latte’s Turtle Cake. Now, since my birthday is smack dab in the middle of Christmas preparations, you know any cake I serve has a) got to stand out and b) be relatively simple. This year I’m at the folks and made it for all of us, and I wanted to share it with you, too!
There’s something about a “sheet cake” that has a charm of its own. It screams out good down-home cooking. When that Banana Sheet Cake is rich, moist, bursting with banana flavor and topped with a (not too sweet) cream cheese frosting, you’ll know it’s true.
For years I’ve made Ballymaloe’s Brown Soda Bread, and we’ve always liked it, but this year I decided to try their white for my St. Patrick’s Day dinner. I don’t know what the hold out was on my part – some nod to tradition combined with a commitment to eat more whole grains. I feel like a sinner, but this bread is so beautiful!
