So you’re not Irish? It doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the sales St. Patrick’s Day is going to generate at the grocery store. And if you want to celebrate it like the real Irish, enjoy the parade, and go home to a marvelous dinner and an evening with your loved ones. Leave the heavy partying to the 20-somethings…well, maybe one beer!
When I initially wrote my “Super Bowl Savings” post, I was a little dismissive of Valentine’s Day as a Food Holiday, a time when you can save a lot of money on groceries. See, I mentioned it’s a great time to buy chocolate. It’s also a great time to buy cards, flowers & plants, but these days, the grocers have gotten more savvy and upped their game on sales. There are a few surprises and some deals to be had during Valentine’s Day Grocery Sales. While Valentine’s day might not be a Big Food Holiday, it’s ranking higher than it used to.
Did you know it’s claimed that Super Bowl Sunday, although not an official “Holiday” is the 2nd biggest “Food Holiday” with only Thanksgiving ranking higher? I’m not sure how that figure was come by, but there is no doubt that the Super Bowl produces a glut of sales to take advantage of starting several weeks ahead.
