Coronavirus What to do Now (1st Week of May)

Hello, everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with anything having to do with the Coronavirus. For one, it’s been a little overwhelming. Maybe it is for you, too? I go in fits and starts with trying to wrap my head around everything. It’s a lot, no doubt. Lucky for me that over the years I’ve had some pretty good practice at dealing. All kinds of dealing. I’ll pass on a few tips, below, that have helped me. And I’m gonna talk about groceries! What’s safe, what isn’t, and what’s good practice these days in dealing with the groceries we bring into the house – from the experts!

I don’t think there is such a thing as an easy life. We all have struggles, we all cope in our own ways and we all handle anything thrown at us because the alternatives are worse. Maybe that’s where the saying that “God will never give us anything we can’t handle” comes from.

But how do you handle something as slippery as this virus? And a slippery thing. it is. While the virus itself might not change (we hope) the numbers, all the information, the science and how it’s interpreted (and maybe more importantly, how it’s misinterpreted), the politics, the bad decisions, the news, and oh, all the opinions are like a roiling ocean, deep, dark, churning. It’s an abyss.

What to do Now (5th Week of March)

Coronavirus What to do Now (5th Week of March)

Hi Guys. I’m just checking in again. It’s hard to believe that a whole week has passed since I posted Coronavirus, What to do Now. I “threatened” then to make this a regular thing so I’m following up with you today. 🙂 I hope you’ll stop by and check-in again, share any thoughts; maybe share what has inspired you this week & maybe let me know what I can do for you. 🙂 As usual, I have a few thoughts and opinions…did you expect any less? 🙂

I think for many of, the news last week that we surpassed China in the number of Covid-19 cases has been a shock. It’s a wake-up call, for sure. There’s been not only fear but also disappointment, anger and obviously and if you’re on the internet or listening to the news, you gotta know there’s blaming going on, all over the place.

I suppose a counselor might say those feelings are perfectly normal (I hope, anyway, because I have them, too) but also know that history’s a harsh mistress. Blame will settle where it’s deserved and we really have no need to help it along. It’s a rabbit hole (or maybe I should say “rabid” hole) we don’t want to go down.

Coronavirus What to Do Now

Coronavirus What to Do Now (3rd Week March)

Hi Guys. I’m just checking in. I’d like to see how you’re all doing. And I’d like to make this check-in a kind of regular thing. Maybe every week? When you get this, I’d love to hear from you! Say “hey” so I know you’re still there and still carrying on and share any thoughts if you want; we’re all in this together, amirite!

Coronavirus What to Do Now

When I first started this site years ago, I was very private; I just wanted to share what I knew in the hope of helping people eat better even if they were on a budget. To share strategies and use recipes to illustrate those points. It was my daughter who said, “Mom, just “own” it. That I have. It’s become very personal to me over the years and a good part of my life. I don’t ever expect to be a major player on the internet. I like right where I am, just me, doing what I do and you, if you like, stopping by. 🙂

If you, like me, are on a budget, or even living paycheck to paycheck, or even if you’re just overwhelmed by it all, it can be really frustrating to think about preparing. Hey, I’m already past my spending limits, and I’m paying close attention to what I need to buy to ride out a possible crisis. And preparing for it isn’t just about toilet paper (there WILL be more) and bottled water.
