I’m kind of getting on a little apple kick here in late May. It’s because I posted the recipe out for my Cider Glazed Ribs so I just had to put out the recipe for this Apple Butter Barbecue Sauce to complement them. And to tell the truth, I have a slaw coming up with apples in it, too. That’s my Tangy Apple Cabbage Slaw.
I think these Cider & Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms are going to be my new signature app. There’re scrumptious little bites that are going to be a hit as an hors-d’oeuvre at a cocktail party, a starter for a family feast (especially Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years) or snack on game day.
When I was a child way back when there were dinosaurs, we used to have something we called “snack cake.” They were always small, simple cakes, and always unfrosted. They were the kind of cake that might be tossed out for after school snacks, sturdy enough to pick up and eat and perfect on their own with no embellishment. That’s what this Quick Old-Fashioned Pear Cake reminds me of.

I love this simple recipe for Oatmeal Jam Bars – it’s a super easy recipe, a classic, really, and a great way to finish up any jam that might be lingering in the fridge. These are made from a fig compote and fig compote just seems so right for fall, but any jam will do. You can hardly go wrong.
