I’m not sure what made me think of this old-fashioned recipe…I’d call it comfort food. I don’t think my Mom made it but it was always around at someone’s house. I made it way back when I was a young Mom. I always called it Ground Beef Noodle Bake. I suspect it has roots in the German Kugel but became “casseroled up” in the U.S., much the way our “American Goulash” did.
Ok, so will you guys kill me if I post two mashed potatoes recipes in the same week? I probably could have done with some better timing but with Thanksgiving (and Christmas soon after) looming and mashed potatoes such an important part of the meal, I wanted to get this Make-Ahead Slow Cooker or Oven Mashed Potatoes recipe out AND the other recipe for Best Company Mashed Potatoes. And not to worry if potatoes aren’t your thing! I have a teaser – a beautiful, easy and feast worthy Chocolate Glazed Tart coming up along with a couple of other fun Thanksgiving-y recipes.
You know the other day, I posted out my recipe for Poor Man’s Mock Prime Rib, and I wanted to get you my recipe for Creamy Horseradish Sauce to go with it. I know Thanksgiving is looming and I have a few recipes coming up, but I wanted to tie up this loose end, first. Just as a teaser, don’t forget to watch for my easy and outstanding Glazed Chocolate Tart (now posted) because the Holidays can’t be all about the pumpkin!
I really am not ready for summer to end – but I was a little consoled with this dish, Creamy Apple & Cider Pork Chops. Ya gotta love a recipe that tastes divine, looks great and is perfect for company but quick & easy enough to pull off on any old weeknight for family dinner! And it’s even better when it’s a dinner that’s so good you’ll want to lick your plate clean!
I have a new favorite “Salsa”, Roasted Sweet Corn Salsa. This salsa is like everything good in the world all combined into one beautiful, corny, creamy, cheesy, spicy dip.
