Hi Guys, I had such rave reviews from the folks last week on my Cinnamon Swirl Quick Bread that I decided not to rest on my laurels but to forge ahead & make Pat Nixons Date Nut Bread. I don’t think I’ve made or had Date Nut Bread for years, maybe decades, but I came across a fun, retro recipe credited to Pat Nixon and couldn’t resist! making it.
Grilled Plums with Mascarpone & Balsamic Gastrique
This is just a fun little whisper of a dessert, barely sweet and absolutely scrumptious. I don’t know why it took my so long to grill plums and serve them for dessert. I just didn’t “get” it. Now I do. Brushed lightly with honey and seared over high heat for just a minute totally intensified the flavor.
Grilled Vegetables with Tonkatsu Sauce
Good news! I was just outside and there was a cool wind! By cooler, I mean cool (85 degrees F) compared to what we’ve had, in the high 90s and low hundreds. I think that nasty old heat dome is passing by! I wanted to throw up my arms and dance. And maybe I did, just a little. 🙂 I was like Rose in The Titanic. Well, older, chunkier, and without Leonardo DiCaprio…or the ship. Ok, so I was just an old lady smiling into the breeze. 🙂
Rhubarb Pistachio Cake
Rhubarb Pistachio Cake. came about because there’s a “perfect storm” of ingredients! A neighbor volunteered some rhubarb, I had just picked up a new carton of yogurt, and I knew I had a stash of pistachios in the freezer. Then I happened to open up the April Martha Stewart magazine.
Simple American Style Soused Chicken
When I first started making this Simple American Style Soused Chicken, it was way back when before the internet. I didn’t know much about it; I just thought the ingredients sounded interesting. And they were/I mean are! I’ve been making Soused Chicken for years and the somewhat unusual flavoring always gets rave reviews.
