Would you guys kill me if I give you yet another Caramelized Onion Dip? Already, I have a Skinny Caramelized Onion Dip, Classic Lipton’s Onion Soup Dip and Caramelized Onion and Bacon Dip. But just one more, this Classic French Onion Dip for New Year’s…then we can all to through several weeks of “Hell-thy.”
So how’s everyone doing on their New Year’s resolutions? If this blog is any indication with the Million Dollar Dip, below? Me? Probably not so great. But hey, it was the Super Bowl last week and I felt like I had to make this dip…
Million Dollar Dip is the dip of many names: ABC Dip, Neiman Marcus Dip, Million Dollar Dip, One Million Dollar Dip. Well, you get the idea.
Did you grow up with this Classic Lipton’s Onion Soup Dip made from Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix and Sour Cream? I did, and we considered it a real treat at our house. Served, of course, with Lay’s Potato Chips, the ridged ones. Or maybe it WAS Ruffles, as Kathryn pointed out in her comment. I don’t think Lay’s Wavy was out way back when in the ’60’s! I guess it doesn’t matter, because you can serve your Classic Lipton’s Onion Soup Dip with either – or with other things, too. Maybe some veggies or those little crostini you can buy at the store. I dunno, whatever you want. I’ll have my Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix with chips!
I had some red lentils (which are really orange, so that’s bizarre, isn’t it?) calling to me the other night. Calling at 2:00 a.m. Seriously. I was like “shut up, go to bed.” But that’s the kind of thing that happens when you look at Pinterest before falling asleep. And Red Lentil Dip with a Spanish Flair is what comes of it.
Thanks to my sister for finding this wonderful creamy, tangy spread that’s a bit different and perfect for the Holidays! The dried fruit makes it festive and adds a little sweetness and that flavor just bounces off the savory rosemary and garlic.
I think I’ve been in kind of a dream here at my folk’s in South Dakota. The weather’s super mild. Not even sweater weather. I could almost be in denial except there’s no denying other fall signals. Leaves, for one. Sporting events for another. And that means Beer & Cheese. And Beer Cheese?! Yes! Or “Pub Cheese” if you’re trendy.
When an opportunity to party rolls around, I like to pull out all the stops, don’t you? I’ll be finding opportunities to make this Smoky Jalapeno Bacon Dip. It’s positively addictive, all smoky bacon flavor spiked with the hot peppers and just a touch of vinegar for a subtle tang.
Simple and good, just minutes to make, perhaps it’s nostalgia, but I love this old-fashioned crab dip. My Mom put this out for just about every holiday party I can remember and I often do the same. It seems sometimes party buffets are so full of hot, ooey, gooey appetizers and lackluster crudites – this little dip fills in the gaps beautifully. Cool, luscious and flavorful, rich without being over the top.
