Honey Barbecued Pulled Chicken

Instant Pot Recipes

The Instant Pot is a multi-cooker that does the job of a slow cooker, electric pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt maker, sauté/browning pan, and warming pot. Here are my favorite (so far!) tried and true instant pot recipes. I hope you’ll find some inspiration here!

Great list! Being kind of luddite, I was leery about the IP. But the cooks I regard highly all said that it was the best (and easiest) way to make chicken stock, and then Amazon had a sale! IMO, they were right…and it actually improves the flavor and texture of many foods – pork, chicken, etc. But, still glad I know how to cook without it 🙂 (Watch for the sales!)

Hi Nancy, it is so handy, and I love how easy it is to clean, too. I just hate washing out my big stock pot! Funny, my brother always calls me a luddite and I still don’t know how I managed to start a blog, lol!!

          • I think you’re right. I think there’s a learning curve and you just have to accept, like any appliance, that what it does well it does well, and what it doesn’t do well shouldn’t be attempted!

            • I think the hard part is to accept that the pressure cooker doesn’t save time on everything. If it is relatively quick on the stovetop it isn’t necessarily going to be faster in the pressure cooker. That’s where the conveince of throwing everthing in, walking away and doing other things and coming back to it when you want to comes in.

              • I have noticed it’s so nice to not to have to babysit because you can walk off with no worries.

The time thing is kind of the same with the pressure cooker & the crockpot. Sometimes I see pressure cooker recipes that take minutes on the stove-top and it’s not worth waiting for the pressure cooker to come up to steam and cook and release.

Other times I see people making things in the slow cooker that literally take minutes stove-top, and frankly turn out better if they’re cooked on the stove top.

I think people get these ideas in their head and just get stuck on one appliance? Who knows!! I’m poaching chicken right now in the Ip, and it takes about the same amount of time in a pan of water but I have no worries about it overcooking or boiling away if I forget it!! Which I just did, lol!!!

    • I haven’t had any problem with cleaning, but then I haven’t burnt anything in it!! I always rinse the ring right away, but it does pick up odors. And I’m pretty careful not to spill around the edges of the pressure cooker part and the insert, so it hasn’t been any problem.

I usually use my plastic brush when I clean it and it’s been a breeze!
